In the spring semester of 2025, the University of Turku hosted a lecture series titled „‘The Golden Age?’ Finnish Arts at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Century“. The responsible lecturer was our Senior Researcher Viola Parente-Čapková. In addition to scholars of literature and culture, the series also featured lectures by a musicologist, folklorist, and art historian.
On 19 March, Mirjam Hinrikus gave a lecture titled „Dionysian Decadence in Estonian Culture in the First Half of the 20th Century: The Case of A. H. Tammsaare”, in which she discussed examples of Nietzschean Decadence in Estonian literature. More specifically, she explored Nietzsche’s reflections on the Dionysian, illustrating them through various types of texts by Tammsaare.
