Merlin Kirikal will defend her doctoral thesis about representing modern gender and bodies in the works by Semper
On 24 January 2022 senior researcher of the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre, Merlin Kirikal will defend her doctoral thesis “Olin lahti murdunud elule”: modernse soo ja keha kujutamine Johannes Semperi Teise maailmasõja eelses loomingus (“I broke open to life”: representing modern gender and bodies in Johannes Semper’s pre-WWII work).
The public defence will take place in auditorium M648 at Tallinn University.
Supervisor of the thesis is senior researcher of the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre, Mirjam Hinrikus.
The opponents are director of the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre and senior researcher of Tallinn University, Jaan Undusk and professor of the University of Tartu, Raili Marling.
