As part of the annual Kadrioru Literary Street Festival, a discussion will take place on 14 September at 13.00 about J. Randvere’s alias Johannes Aavik’s notorious essay-short story “Ruth” (1909) which was initially published in the third album of Young Estonia. The discussion will be moderated by the literary scholar Johanna Ross, the different facets of “Ruth” will be interpreted by the literary scholar Mirjam Hinrikus, the musicologist Kerri Kotta and the art scholar Lola Annabel Kass, who will defend her doctoral thesis on Estonian decadent art on September 23 in Tallinn University.

The event is organised by the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre (the project of decadence) and the Johannes and Joosep Aavik’s House Museum. The conversation will take place on Koidula street in the AHTEV and EKMÜ area.
