Reading seminar: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, 17 February 2023

On 17 February 2023, a seminar will be held at the Estonian Academy of Sciences, where the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde will be discussed. The relationship between the foreword of the novel and the novel itself will be analysed as well as the way the novel represents the aesthetics of Decadence. Additionally, it will be explored how the new aesthetic principles are associated with discourses of race, gender and class.
