Reading seminar: Verhaeren and Bryusov, 17 March 2023

On 17 March 2023, a seminar will be held at the Estonian Academy of Sciences, where the poetry by Emile Verhaeren and Valery Bryusov will be under discussion. Both authors serve as important models for the Estonian poet and translator Johannes Semper. All of these authors began as aestheticists and decadents and then moved in their own directions, often dedicating their attention to the urban progress and workers’ labour. These changes in the direction of creative search are of interest while speaking of the inner possibilities of Decadence.
